Hampshire County Council are consulting on the introduction of 20mph speed limits more widely.
There's been a vocal campaign over the last year to introduce a blanket 20mph limit in all built up and residential areas.
There's certainly an argument to do so in many of our local villages and in the residential areas of our towns.
However, the challenge in doing so would be enforcement. The police struggle to provide enforcement of the speed limits we have in place now, so there would be an enormous challenge for us to ensure 20mph limits were adhered to.
However, in my opinion, because something is difficult isn't a reason not to do it.
