Last week, after the launch of the annual Poppy Appeal, the Industry and Parliament Trust came to Parliament for their annual Poppy Ride on behalf of the Royal British Legion. Every year they appeal to the naturally competitive nature of Parliamentarians and get us to cycle as far as we can on static bikes in 5 minutes. As a previous two time winner I took part with a notable lack of success this year. But as the Army PT pointed out, “you’ve cycled further than most of the men Ma’am!” But apparently not as far as my incredible colleague Siobhan Baillie who did it in a dress!
