**Storm Eunice - power cut compensation**
I'm very aware there are many people still without power in the villages north and west of Romsey.
I hope it's helpful to provide some detail of how you can claim compensation from Scottish and Southern Energy if you are without power or have lost it for a considerable period:
Compensation
You are entitled to compensation if you have been without power for a prolonged period of time. You can claim:
£70 as a domestic customer
£70 as a non-domestic customer
if the power was off for 24 hours (Storm Category 1) or 48 hours (Storm Category 2). Ofgem checks and verifies storm categories.
You can get a further £70 for each additional 12 hours of being without power, up to a total of £700.
(It's worth noting that SSEN waived the upper limit for people affected by storm Arwen last year).
How to apply for compensation
SSEN are saying they will be in touch with affected customers directly to arrange for compensation. You might though wish to email them to ensure you are on their list, the email to use is: [email protected].
