I’ve been talking to ITV News Meridian this evening about the telephone and internet outage caused by Hampshire County Council contractors drilling through fibre optic cables while working on our road improvement scheme at Brighton Hill in #Basingtoke.
We’re really sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Openreach had given our contractors cabling plans that didn’t show the cables in this location. They had also been on site and reassured us the cables were elsewhere. Our radar survey of the area also didn’t pick the cables up because they were buried almost 3 meters deep.
Our teams and openreach worked through the night to restore connections. Huge thanks to the Hampshire Highways and Milestone teams who have worked so hard to fix things.
