It was a pleasure to be invited to contribute to Thursday’s River Itchen Councillor Scrutiny Inquiry at SCC. We met to discuss the economic value of the river to Southampton.
In my role at Marina developments Ltd we manage 3 fantastic location on the river, Ocean Village, Shamrock Quay and Saxon Wharf. The river deserves special consideration if we are to enjoy it in years to come, so it was good to hear that SCC are working with private businesses on environmental improvement, forward thinking planning developments shaped by the city's new Local Plan, which is out for consultation and future technology.
Great to hear plans coming forward from SCC and the private sector working hand in glove for the benefit of all. Did you know there is over 500 businesses situated along the river, large and small; from marinas, to boat builders, high tech robotics, aggregates, as well as non marine companies. The marine industry is a fantastically exciting, growing sector.
