As council tax bills for 23/24 have started landing on doormats this week, I’d thought I’d share the below graphic, which is a useful reminder of where your council tax goes.
Test Valley’s portion is £158.91 a year on an average Band D property. £40 lower than the average for the rest of England.
Not only to have your bin collected every week but to maintain the housing & homelessness, planning, licensing, countryside, parks & open spaces, street cleaning, environmental health, economic development and leisure services.
Our decision to set up project enterprise has earnt the council an additional £8.5m in investment income over the last four years. Meaning lower bills but no cuts to services.
Residents on the lowest incomes receive help through our generous Council Tax Support Scheme.
Thanks to some additional government funding this year we have been able to go further. Delivering an extra £55 discount to households that are facing severe financial hardship. Cushioning them against the rising cost of living and increases from other precepting authorities.
