Tonight has been my final meeting as a parish councillor at Awbridge Parish Council. I’m afraid life is just too busy with my TVBC and HCC councillor roles to continue to do the role justice.
It’s been an honour and a pleasure to work with my colleagues over the last four years. It’s been a challenging term, supporting our community through the pandemic, the growth of the village through both new development and accession of areas of Romsey Extra and influencing our future development through the Neighbourhood Plan.
Not without controversy, particularly around planning, the council has seen robust debate and firm views. However universally our interactions have been cordial, respectful and friendly.
Awbridge is a wonderful community and its Parish Council is an exemplar of community governance, showing how committed residents can work together to make their village better.
I’ll still be there monthly in my role as County Councillor and, hopefully, after the elections in May, TVBC councillor but sitting in the audience rather than at the front.
I wish my colleagues and my successor all the very best.
