Those of you who have travelled to or from Winchester this week may have noticed signs warning of overnight closures of the A3090 at Ampfield on the evenings of Thursday 4th and Friday 5th May between 6.30pm and 6am.
I may** have mentioned that Thursday May 4th is local election day. Closing the road here from 6.30pm would therefore cut everyone in Ampfield to the west of the closure off from the polling station in the village centre.
Hampshire Highways have therefore agreed to delay the start of works on May 4th until 11pm, allowing those living in The Straight Mile, Jermyns Lane and Crampmoor Lane to access the polling station, and for the electoral staff to get home safely once the polls have closed at 10pm.
The road closure will operate at the advertised times overnight on Friday 5th May.
My thanks to Cllr Chris Ling and MJ Rawson-Smith for bringing it to my attention.
** definitely have loads of times
